Chef Deena’s culinary spark happened after a high school trip to Singapore and her first taste of curry chicken from the street vendors. Other foodie adventures led her through China, Europe, and Spain where she built and expanded her recipe scrapbook.
Originally from Encinitas, California, she has worked at a Vietnamese restaurant and a Cuban café, called Papa Gus, where she rolled burritos and blended up smoothies for hungry surfers.
She attended Humboldt State University to study Ethnic Literature, Music, Photography, and to FIND herself. She enjoyed picking edible mushrooms, farmers markets, and the North Coast experience, while also experimenting on her college roommates’ taste buds.
She married, moved to Del Mar, and started a family while working as a Personal Chef. She went back to school to get the Culinary Arts Degree at The San Diego Culinary Institute, interned with Waters Catering, until she branched out with a catering business of her own.
For over 15 years, her passion has been cultivating new recipes and creating the best parties for all of her clients, and now Deena has the pleasure to share her talents and passion for delicious food with you and all of us here at Flavor Chef Catering.
